The SCA has affirmed the JSE's authority to direct the restatement of financial statements of issuers years after their boards, expert advisors and independent external auditors approved its financial statements. Additionally, the SCA has confirmed that, in line with Section 224 of the Financial Markets Act 9 of 2017, members of the Financial Services Tribunal do not need to have experience or expert knowledge of financial services or the financial system in order to adjudicate on a case.
