APPOINTMENT OF DEBT OFFICER TO ABSA GROUP AND ABSA BANK

In accordance with paragraphs 6.39 of the JSE Limited Debt Listings Requirements, noteholders are
informed that Christopher Snyman, in his capacity as Interim Group Financial Director of Absa Group and
Absa Bank, has been appointed as Debt Officer of Absa Group and Absa Bank with immediate effect.

The Absa Group and Absa Bank Boards confirm that they have considered and are satisfied with the
competence, qualifications and experience of the newly appointed Debt Officer.
