DISCLOSURE OF DISPOSAL OF SECURITIES BY JP MORGAN CHASE & CO.

In accordance with the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and Section 122(1) of the
Companies Act, No 71 of 2008 (“the Act”), shareholders are advised that JP Morgan Chase
& Co. has formally notified Shoprite Holdings that it has disposed of ordinary shares in the
Company, resulting in the total beneficial interest of Shoprite Holdings ordinary shares
held by JP Morgan Chase & Co. reducing to 4.92% of the total issued Shoprite Holdings
ordinary shares.

The board of Shoprite Holdings accepts responsibility for the information contained in this
announcement and confirms that, to the best of their knowledge and belief, such
